He did not help them in any way, for it would have gone against his religious beliefs.” “Like I said before, Nelson was the one who entered the city with cowardice, which caused Krurhal to fall. It's why when you start the game, Eshe is standing in a desert.” “Just to put you into context, in case you didn't know, the game is set about a hundred years after some sort of climate apocalypse that caused most of the earth population to die. It not only caused them to be trapped in some sort of time pocket but also to change their physical forms into eldritch monsters (yeah, technically all the enemies you fight along your journey were once human).” “The fact that Waters caused the ritual to crash caused a blast that caught everyone in the vicinity. So I don’t think I’ll share the full reply (just because it’s personal correspondence, and some of the stuff was really interesting, ngl) but here’s some stuff she said. I don’t think it’s too big of a stretch to assume that they then decided to go after Bah’gor, who was likely at least getting ready for the ritual by then. The Quietus Ternion were captured by the Valkyrie, yes. They were normal sized before the corruption of everything underground. He also likely had a grudge, considering the Valkyrie wanted very badly to take her out.ĭominion and Hysteria are giant due to the same eldritch power that’s warped everyone else there. Waters’ was there to interrupt Bah’gor’s ritual, but he never knew what the real deal was with it. Our children will prosper in health and happiness.”Īnd the war probably *offically* starts sometime after that. “If we manage to get ahold of their source of power, we’ll make the world a better place. They then conclude TST is likely a power source: “Further data has lead us to believe that The Shining Trapezohedron has taken the form of a stone.” They were researching TST, and an interesting thing to note here is that they possible allude to him having other forms: (This is of some interest, as the multiverse is a fairly modern theory that has been *somewhat* proven, but not totally one way or the other, and is one a lot of people put stock in. “To think that a simple stone can allow inter-dimensional travel is science-fiction.”įuthermore, the Valkyrie don’t believe in the multiverse. The Valkyrie thought TST was a power source, and didn’t believe he could be anything more than that: Hopefully if there's new Perks up soon in the DLC they'll reveal some new information.Įdit: about why the war was started. It is interesting to see that this does reveal some about how TST thinks of battle, enemies, and his relationship with Eshe (and possibly the Eschaton), though. On that note, it's both fascinating and a little disappointing that the new significant skill tree nodes are quotes from TST, but that they hold nothing big plot wise. One of my theories is that Eschaton priests maybe could have had access to Elder Shards and a literal Shard of an eldritch, so that with Valkyrie tech could have allowed for them to to very effectively fight Valkyrie. The eldritch powers make use of technology- so maybe it could have gone the other way around. Waters' seemed pretty clueless about magic and its applications (he thought TST was a weird power source of some kind), but maybe it's possible a Valkyrie soldier or two caught on to things, I'm not sure though. Gosh, that's fascinating, I'd never even thought of that! I'd love to talk lore, PM me and we can discuss this more if you'd like! Someone also pointed out that: “You could just swap "once" for "with" for the same effect: ‘With Krurhal Milarh decieved, the Holy City fell.’ “ Just wanted to make sure this is corrected next update, if it is a typo! There's likely a "was" that's missing in front of the word decieved, which would make the passage: "Krurhal Milarh was decieved". The full passage in game is: "Once Krurhal Milarh deceived… The Holy City was defiled. However, Caroff confirmed to me that this wasn't the case: "Krurhal Milarh didn't deceive the Eschaton and did not turn himself to the Valkyries." TST says: "Once Krurhal Milarh decieved, the Holy City fell." I emailed her about it but I suppose she gets a lot of emails- my replies likely got buried, and I've made a lot of them over time.Īnyways, the first lore/crystal room you come to in the second area (The Holy City) likely has a typo. I spoke with the writer of Sundered about the plot and while she cleared up things for me that I was confused about, it also revealed a possible typo.
